At a formal event on 6 March 2013, Costas Severis, on behalf of the Costas & Rita Severis Foundation, and Mr George Georghiou of the Planning Bureau signed a project contract that formalized EEA grant funding for the future Centre of Visual Arts & Research (CVAR). Under the EEA Grants 2009-2014, the Costas & Rita Severis Foundation will receive funds to promote Cyprus’ cultural and natural heritage for future generations and to make its multicultural heritage accessible to the broader public. In addition to contributing to the design, construction and operation of CVAR—which will house a unique collection of paintings, books, costumes and memorabilia, all related to Cyprus and its history—the EEA Grants-funded project will support the Foundation in establishing relationships with educational institutions in EEA Donor States (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and in hosting students to come to Cyprus and contribute to CVAR.
